Quite simply, it’s the best thing to ever happen to the way we manage our content. There are hundreds of thousands of websites on the web using WordPress as its content management system, and after I get done with you, you’ll have your very own too.
You are not able to upload your own themes and pug-ins. In addition, WordPress.com will not allow you to post Google AdSense ads or affiliate links. However, WordPress may on occasion show Google text ads on your site.
A blog’s contents can be easily updated by submitting short or long articles (commonly known as blog posts) through an easy-to-use graphical interface. As a blog’s content is updated regularly, they naturally attract both human readers as well as search engines hungry for fresh content.
Theming these platforms can be accomplished through both CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and PHP (Personal Home Page or PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) code modifications. However, these platforms are complex and learning enough to install, manage, and customize these platforms can be a daunting task.
The WordPress team also just added 3 new core developers increasing the development team back to five full time members. The upcoming WordPress 2.7 release is currently scheduled for November 2008.
Compared to WordPress users, Blogger.com users are typically not “professional” bloggers, although there are plenty of Common Joe bloggers who monetize their Blogspot blogs and make a living doing it.
Just click on the WordPress link to install WordPress on your website. The software will ask you some basic general information, then do the full install of one of the most recent WordPress builds into your website.
You need to create a WordPress blog. WordPress is a free blogging platform, but you will need a website first, and the website needs to be hosted one of two ways: Free Hosting or Paid Hosting.
Once the install begins accept the license agreement and all the default installation options and select to create a desktop icon at the end of the installation.
You can also use WordPress to create a web site for your business that will allow you to easily publish marketing materials on the Internet. You can also use WordPress to create a personal blog about yourself and use it to meet people that share your likes and dislikes.
Because WordPress is an Open Source project, people all over the globe are working on it. Without paying a license fee, you can use WordPress for all types of business and personal blogs. WordPress hosting is also a budget-conscious choice for your website.
