  4. Fixed the ‘No bar’ bug!

Feature:

You will need this plugin if your blog domain is changed, this plugin will make your old domain 301 redirect to your new domain.

if your blog’s old domain is: http://www.old.com/blog
and you got a new domain, you want to use the new domain on the blog
the new domain like this: http://www.new.com

the best way is to redirect to your old domain to the new domain, with 301 http code.
this is good for the new domain and the search engine.

this plugin can help you to do this.

Install and setting

Once you active this plugin. Follow the next steps.

  1. Go to the setting page, and fill your old blog siteurl, for example: http://www.old.com/blog/
  2. The plugin will auto load your new blog site from Settings->General->Blog Address URL. So there is no need to setting for new domain :-)
  3. Choose the option to open or close this feature.

Example

your old blog siteurl: http://www.old.com/blog/
your new blog siteurl: http://www.new.com/

if you use this plugin
when people visit your blog with url: http://www.old.com/blog/207/
this plugin will changed the domain to the url: http://www.new.com/207 with 301 redirect.

Hello (sorry I’m french so you have difficulties to understand my comment ;) )

I’m looking to use your plugin, but I’ve a problem, the actual domain is http://romainjacob.eu/campingcars60, so when I use your plugin with the domain http://campingcars60.fr, it givea 500 error because the redirection is campingcars60.fr/campingcars60. I wonder if it’s possible by the editor to edit the old domain.

I hope you understand my question. Could you answer fastly please? It’s for a professional website.

@Romain Yes, it requires that your old domain and new domain must have no child directory in the URL.
this is the first version’s defect, I will add this function in the next version, and I will mail you in few days :-)

Thanks for your really fast answer. In fact I tried your plugin on my personal blog and it works really good. I can’t modify something or add a line with the editor? If it’s impossible I will wait… I wait your email.

I’m confused by your instructions. Do I activate the plug-in in the old domain or the new?
I assumed that it should be activated in the old domain but when I went to activate the plug-in, it asked for the url to the old domain but didn’t ask for any info about the new domain.

    Sorry, I’m very confused.

I’m having problems with the plugin. It should work this way: the address “old.com/post” should redirect to “new.com/post”, but what happens is that the redirected address shows “new.compost”. Obviously this causes an error of server not found. Create a fix for this, please!

    @Cadu Silva
please tell me your case. I hava no problem in my test.

@WebtoolOL, Like I said, he is not putting the bar at the end of the redirected address, making the top domain to join the permalink of the post, causing an error of server not found. I found your plugin when I was hopeless as to the 301 redirect, since the attempts to .htaccess and CPanel failed, but I showed up this problem. :(
